The Reverend Doctor Baron Mullis will be our Gilchrist Lecturer on Gilchrist Sunday, March 22, 2020. We are excited to welcome Baron to Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as Associate Pastor for more than eight years! As a Charlotte native, Baron’s roots in this area are strong and deep, having attended Charlotte schools and UNC-Charlotte. He received his seminary training and doctoral degree from Princeton Seminary. Throughout his ministry, Baron has focused on creating intentionally inclusive congregations where unconditional welcome is recognized as a fundamental facet of the kingdom of God. Baron’s topic for the lectures is “Belonging in an Age of Disintegration: Can Spiritual Discipline Rescue Faith?”
What better platform than Gilchrist Sunday for the hearing of challenging words. Named for Pat and Katie Gilchrist, two of Trinity’s Charter Members, and endowed from funds given in their honor by their family, including Pressly and Nancy Gilchrist Millen, our Gilchrist Sundays are an annual event at Trinity. On these Sundays, we welcome some of the leading theologians and ministers of our day who challenge us to approach our faith in new ways. Baron Mullis is one of these ministers. We eagerly await his words and his presence with us once again.
