Journey To The Cross – Lent 2019

March 6th marks the beginning of forty days of Lent. In our liturgical year, Lent is designed to be a period of intentional and thoughtful action and reflection as we move closer toward Holy Week and Easter.

As your worship leaders, we want to invite you to join us as we “journey to the cross.” This journey begins on Ash Wednesday, which will include “ashes-to-go” and a 6pm Ash Wednesday service.  Each week (beginning Sunday) a new set of Lenten practices will be made available in the narthex for all to participate fully at their convenience during church office hours.

When Holy Week arrives, our theme transitions to “Pathway To the Resurrection.” In addition to the weekly prayer station, we’ll celebrate a special “Agape Feast” on Maundy Thursday, a meaningful Good Friday Tenebrae service with special music, and our Easter Sunday Resurrection worship service.

You can learn more about the various components of our Lenten journey below. We sincerely hope you’ll make “Journey To The Cross” a priority in your spiritual life this Lent!

Steve, Grace, Jodi and Chris

Ash Wednesday – March 6

From 12:30-6pm, Steve, Grace and Jodi will provide “ashes-to-go” out in front of our sanctuary.  Trinity members, as well as anyone from the community, will receive ashes and a short prayer. In the case of inclement weather, we’ll move into the sanctuary narthex.  At 6pm, everyone is invited to join us for Ash Wednesday worship in the sanctuary.

Lenten Prayer Stations

Each week during Lent, a special prayer station will be set up in the sanctuary narthex.  These stations will change out each week and provide members and friends of Trinity weekly opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection.  The stations will be open during office hours, as well as Sundays after worship.

Maundy Thursday Agape Feast – April 18, 6:30pm

Our church family will gather in the Fellowship Hall for a catered dinner (no charge, but donations will be accepted).  Our main goal will be to commune with others, just as Jesus did on this night long ago.  We will also celebrate the sacrament of Communion.  Trinity members are encouraged to invite family/neighbors/friends to join them in the feast.

Good Friday Tenebrae Service – April 19, 7pm

Join us in our sanctuary for a meaningful Tenebrae service and special music as we remember the seven last words of Jesus.

Easter Sunday Resurrection Worship Service – April 21, 11am

The day of resurrection is here!  We will gather to celebrate the risen Lord at our Sunday morning worship service.
