Trinity is excited to welcome our new Interim Organist, Keith McNabb! Keith will begin his time with us on February 25.
Keith McNabb and his wife Julie made a retirement move from the Chicago area to Huntersville in the fall of 2019. Keith had just retired from his corporate day job and had served 25 years as the staff organist of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. Keith grew up in Arkansas, earned a BA in mathematics at Hendrix College, and then switched to a music track. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organ performance at the University of Michigan School of Music in Ann Arbor and a DMA in organ performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. He originally planned to be a university organ professor, but such positions had become scarce. So, he improvised. Leveraging his mathematics background, he fell in with a GM electronics group in Santa Barbara and became a software engineer for automotive and military applications. At the same time, he was organist for First United Methodist Church and the Santa Barbara Choral Society. The dual career in music and software continued throughout his working years in California, Michigan and the Chicago area. Since moving to North Carolina, he has been active as a substitute organist before and after pandemic restrictions and was interim organist at First Presbyterian Church of Statesville for six months last year.
